Senior PHP DeveloperManchesterSalary to £45K + Benefits
Our client is a leading travel services group and is currently looking for an experienced PHP developer who prides themselves on delivering well designed and crafted solutions.
Main duties:Plan and lead projectsMaintain and develop system applications and APIs.Implement integrations with third-party APIs.Use profiling and refactoring techniques to make the system more robust.Design and implement improvements to applications architecture.Use automation to improve process efficiency and reliability of releases.Maintain and contribute to internal/external documentation.Represent the development team at internal and external meetings.Contribute ideas and suggestions to progress and increase the success of the business.Work collaboratively with the broader organisation and take responsibility for delivering developments promptly to assist team members perform their roles.Research available technologies and products they can leverage to improve the system and utilise resources effectively.
Skills/Experience:Strong knowledge and experience working with modern object-oriented PHP, preferably using MVC frameworks such as Yii or Symfony.Experience using Git as a version control system in a team context (i.e. using Gitflow as a workflow strategy)The ability to contribute high-quality code and contribute to peer reviews offering constructive feedback on code style, naming and design.Strong teamwork and communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff.Familiarity with modern frontend technologies like HTML5, CSS3, ES6, React.jsStrong knowledge of web performance optimisation and cachingThird Party API Experience (such as HubSpot, Xero)Excellent problem solving and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.Experience writing clear specifications from gathered requirements and breaking down projects into simple tasks that can be delegated to keep all business priorities moving forwards.Strong Linux skills – preferably managing environments in the AWS platform.Experience maintaining and updating WordPress sites (preferably).Strong database design skills (MySQL) and the ability to perform optimisation and performance improvements.Knowledge of some or all tools and methods such as Composer, Redis, Elasticache, Continuous Integration, TDD, Atlassian Suite, decoupled/headless applications.
